Today

Today she tends to lean towards weakness
They look at her as a conqueror,
but yet she knows her spirit is full of doubt and shame
Today her heart is overbearing with caring thoughts.
They know she is but don't want to believe it,
but even past her looks she can't stand to hide her feelings
Today her mouth tends to stay close on the outside conversations.
They wonder why a girl so expressive shuts down without hesitation,
but they never realized she has a story to tell.
Today her heart is hardened by voices in her head.
They could never imagine a girl with such a smile could be so sensititive,
but they never got the chance to know her.
Today her actions are in a systematic way
No one around her thinks of it as different, she's just organized,
but deep down her systematic ways keep her mind off of the hurt and deep pain.
Today her brain can never grasp they're judgmental ways.
They know being around her those words make her uncomfortable,
but they don't know that inside it is a matter of time before she explodes.
Explodes,
and quickly comes up with response to the judgmental words of others to make it stop.
Today she is just a girl.
A girl everyone thinks they know somewhat,
but they really don't...
until she is ready to open up again.
I like how you made a poem about a girl who is almost an outcast in society. You used descrpitive words that really made the poem come alive and pop.

ReplyDeleteCielo, I like your poem because I think it tells a part of your hidden story. I feel that there is more to you than a big smile and an A student. I think this poem would be good for you to add on to if you're ever feeling down or like you're going to explode. This poem is you.
